Derek doesn't even work at Laura's stupid cafe. Making Stiles' order (poorly) is just about as far as his 'flirting with people'-skills go.

This is fine until they go off to uni and Scott meets Allison, with whom he instantly falls in love, forcing Scott and Stiles to "break up." The Hale Pack had grown to view Stiles as family during the 2+ years since Scott had been bitten, and in a desperate bid to keep him from drifting away from the Pack, they decide to set him up with any/all of the eligible Hales. Enter Derek, who'd lived in New York attending uni for the past four years.
